Today's History Lesson...


This morning I caught a little of "The O'Reilly Factor" with Bill O'Reilly on Fox News. I found a part of his "Reality Check" segment very interesting. The segment was dealing with questions from the U.S. Citizenship Test. It made me wonder...how much do we know, or remember about this great country of ours? We can all use a refresher course in History now and then. Here are the questions Bill O'Reilly asked on his show. My comment on at least one of the questions is optional...

Question: What do we call the first ten amendments to the Constitution?
Answer: The Bill of Rights

Question: What are the three basic rights in the Declaration of Independence?
Answer: Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness

Question: Who wrote the Declaration of Independence?
Answer: Thomas Jefferson

Question: We elect Senators for how many years?
Answer: Six

Question: What branch of government does the President head?
Answer: The Executive Branch

Question: What did Susan B. Anthony do?
Answer: Fought for Women's rights. (We forgive you Susan! Just kidding ladies!)

Question: Who was the President during World War I?
Answer: Woodrow Wilson

Question: Who was the President during the Depression?
Answer: Franklin Roosevelt

Question: Why does the flag have 13 stripes?
Answer: Because there were 13 original Colonies

Question: How many Supreme Court Justices are there?
Answer: Nine

Some of those questions might have made you think a little. Talk history to your kids. Fill them in on the story of this great country of ours!
